Toni organised the traditional autumn bike packing trip. The original plan was to go to a beach by the sea, but storm winds up to 20m/s made a change to the plan. So the destination was set to lake Meiko in Kirkkonummi. I had a sore throat and felt a bit tired so I took a late start and was the last one to reach the destination. Here is Toni's route plan: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28635488
It had rained periodically for the whole day, but the clouds seemed to avoid us in good manner resulting in a nice sunny evening. The wind was blowing from the lake and it felt pretty cold.
Eeva and Paulus did the grocery run and brought supplies for tasty burgers and some beers.
Hard to beat a burger grilled on open fire as camp dinner.
The temperature went down with the sun. We spent the night huddled around the fire with either a cold back or smoky eyes. Cranes started hovering over the lake making a lot of noise. In the end there were over 30 of them hanging around. Probably getting ready to head south for the winter.
According to my Suunto watch the moon was 97% full and gave a nice photo opportunity.
After a much needed coffee and bread I headed back to the tent for a nap since my throat was really sore and I felt tired. Toni, Kaisa, Anna, Viltsu, Eeva and Paulus started to make their way back home.
I woke up again around noon and packed my stuff. The autumn colors are not yet present here in the south, but plenty of mushrooms have popped up already.
I rode slowly and hopped on the train for a part of the route. Now enjoying the flu at home under a blanket :)
