Friday morning was one the coldest so far this winter: -27°C. But there was a warmer system coming in during the night so we decided to do a quick overnighter. The temperature had risen to -17°C when we got going around 10pm. The plan was to walk a few hours with snowshoes on the ice and then camp on an island. The first hour or so went quickly by, but then suddenly the snow looked dark in some spots. While trying to figure out the condition of the ice, we realized that we were standing in wet slush. We backtracked a bit and took a detour around the areas where water was on top of the ice, so that the snowshoes wouldn’t freeze up.
We set camp on the Möholmen island. Had some hot chocolate and rolled out the sleeping bags for the night.
On saturday morning the temperature was only a few degrees below zero, so it was really nice and warm in the tent. We slept really long. Our friend Jakke took a morning walk and came to wake us up at around 10.30.
Why have porridge for breakfast when you can enjoy a Kebabgryte? The all time favourite from Turmat.

After packing up the tent we headed back home. First through the island and then on to the ice. There was quite a bit of water on the ice in some places.
A nice quick overnighter in the outdoors. What else do you need?
