We tried the Route 2000 with Tuomas in the beginning of April, but the backlash of winter had riddled the paths in Espoo unrideable. The snow was wet and mushy, which made steering impossible throwing us all over the place. While having dinner at Lahnus we estimated that pushing and riding the remaining 30km to the overnight shelter would take us about 10 hours, since riding was really not possible. We turned around and headed home with some icy rain on the way. It was a good 125km day ride on the fatbike.
We started after work on friday around six. Everyone was on cyclocross bikes with a fairly light setup. Jesse’s titanium Kona Rove is a beauty!

We spent the night at the Takala lean-to shelter. Noodles and tuna was on the menu.
After a good nights sleep along with some porridge and coffee we were ready to hit the trails again.
The weather was quite optimal for riding. Really nice trails in the Nuuksio part of the route.
We had lunch at the Lahnus Shell and departed ways. Jesse and Tuomas headed for Helsinki and I took a bit different route towards Sipoo and got home in time to watch the hockey game. Excellent overnighter on cx bikes!
